The frequency of periodic inspection performed on your lifting equipment will depend on its type, condition and usage. Inspections need to be scheduled to minimise disruption, downtime and loss of productivity, whilst ensuring that the equipment is thoroughly inspected and fit for service.
Recently purchased lifting equipment should come with a warranty agreement from the supplier, with recommendations on how to maintain the equipment in good condition.
This should include two basic requirements;
Whether identified during operational service or whilst being inspected/maintained, defects or signs of deterioration should be addressed urgently and in many cases before the equipment is returned to service.
Malfunctions of lifting equipment can at worst cost lives but also cost your company in downtime, repair costs and even compensation claims and prosecution, so we advise that problems are dealt with by a specialist.
